Best Lava Boat Tour- Hawaii
  • One of my most cherished memories

"I was fortunate enough to be among the first to be taken out by Captain Kanoa to see the 2016 lava flow. It was one of the most spectacular sights one can imagine and will be one of my most cherished memories. Being able to see this amazing event was just about the only thing that could induce me to get on a boat as I am not comfortable being out on the water. I felt safe and did not expect to enjoy it so much. The captain and crew were very kind and responsive to my concerns. The boat is comfortable and her Captain clearly knows her. It's great to be in a small group which makes the experience much more special. It was an incredible experience and I highly recommend it."

  • Good company, good guys, and a beautiful life-experience

"I had a wonderful experience with this company. We went on the dawn boat a few weeks ago. The guys were friendly, knowledgeable, local-style, and the ride was safe and beautiful. We hung out at the lava longer than some of the other boats. They got us close to the flow in a way that felt safe, and kept us out of the smoke with some solid driving. They also pointed out some cool land features of the coast that you can only see from the water, and talked a bit about old kalapana. Good company, good guys,  and a beautiful life-experience."

  • This was the coolest thing I have ever done!

"This was the coolest thing I have ever done! I went on the sunset tour (01/16/2017), and it was a perfect trip! If you are prepared for a wild, bumpy ride on a boat and the potential to get wet, you will enjoy this tour. This is not for the faint hearted. The ride is over open ocean to get to the lava flows and really quite enjoyable. If you think you may be the tiniest bit seasick, make sure you take Dramamine or something similar. However, once you get out to there and see the lava spewing out, you will forget about all that. You can feel the heat from the lava and the power of the earth. We even saw a pod of spinner dolphins on the return journey! Moku Nui Tours does a great job of getting you out to the lava safely and telling you all about the history and scientific stuff behind the lava. A once in a lifetime experience!"

  • Gets you up close and personal with Pele!

"My boyfriend and I did the sunrise lava tour.  We live on Oahu and came to BI for a 4-day weekend and this was a highlight of our trip.  Captain Kanoa and Tyson were great guides and their boat is awesome for viewing lava.  Kanoa gets you up close and personal with Pele!  The boat only seats 6 passengers, so you're with a small group - and the seats are very comfortable.  The seas were a bit rough on our trip to the lava but we were very comfy in our "captain chairs".  I never get sea sick but would definitely recommend taking Bonine prior to this trip as it can be bouncy, rough seas.  Better safe than sorry.  Seeing the lava meet the ocean is an unreal experience - it is worth the splurge and I highly recommend doing it with Captain Kanoa and Moku Nui Lava Tours!"
